SUTTON – Elva M. (Desrosiers) Smith, 83, peacefully passed away at home surrounded by her family on January 15, 2016. Although our hearts our heavy with sadness we know she is now with the Lord and her son who passed many years before.
She leaves her husband, Ronald R. Smith; four children, Pauline Smith of Auburn, Edward Smith and his wife, Lisa of Virginia, Barbara Smith of Sutton and David Smith and his wife, Margaret of Millbury; three grandchildren, Brian and his wife, Heidi, Erica Fedorczuk and William Smith; three great grandchildren, Jackson, Levi and Luke; three sisters, Claire Reed of California, Lorraine Fielding and Barbara Montville both of Arizona. She was born in Worcester and is predeceased by her parents Louis and Elva (Maynard) Desrosiers, a son, Ronald Smith and a sister, Irene Olejniczak.
Elva graduated from Commerce High School in 1950 and married Ronald Smith on November 24, 1956. As a young woman, Elva was an avid dancer and a beautiful woman inside and out. She met the love of her life, Ronald Smith in 1955 on the dance floor. She launched her career as an account representative at Sears where she worked for many years and also volunteered her time with the Civil Air Patrol. Elva was a devoted mother to her 5 children and several grandchildren.
Elva's funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19th at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 695 Southbridge St. in Worcester. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 18th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery in Sutton. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Metro West Home Care & Hospice, 200 Nickerson Road, Marlborough, MA 01752.
