MILLBURY – Emilie M. (Fortune) Welch, 79, passed away surrounded by family on Friday, September 24th after a brief illness.
Emilie’s husband of 46 years, Donald J. Welch, Sr. passed in 2012. She is survived by her three children, Ann Marie Duddy and her husband, Lawrence of Maynard, DJ Welch and his wife, Jenn of Millbury, Patricia Daniels and her fiancé, Kevin Plante of Rochdale; brother Leonard “Lenny” Fortune of Worcester and eight grandchildren, Colleen, Kerrin, Sean, Kaylee, Justin, Nicolas, Jayden and Jase. She was predeceased by her sister Elizabeth “Betty” Garabedian.
Emilie was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Leo and Anna (Dalgowski) Fortune. She was a graduate of Commerce High School, Worcester in 1960, then went on to work for Saint-Gobain (formerly Norton Company) as a customer service representative for over 35 years.
Emilie was an avid New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox fan. She enjoyed time during the summers at the “lake” relaxing and entertaining her grandchildren, family, and friends. She also enjoyed the company and friendships of her long-time neighbors.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate and remember Emilie’s life with a time of visitation on Wednesday, Oct. 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
Her funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday, Oct. 14th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
