Ernest "Smokey" Lavalley, 68, passed away peacefully with his loving wife and family by his side.
Smokey leaves the love of his life of 34 years, Elizabeth (Warren) Lavalley. His daughter, Michelle Cosenza and her husband, Michael and two granddaughters, Isabella and Giada all of Millbury; his mother, Cecile Linnell of Northbridge; five brothers, Francis "Butch" Lavalley and his wife, Linda of FL, Steven Lavalley and his wife, Donna of Sutton, David Lavalley and his wife, Kathy of OH, Dennis Lavalley and his wife, Theresa of Charlton and Richard Linnell of Northbridge; five sisters, Alice Pittman of Grafton, Linda Winchell and her husband, Alfred of Douglas, Becky Vaundell and her husband, David of Sutton, Diane Day and her husband Phil of Millbury, Denise Berthlette and her husband, James of Uxbridge. Smokey is predeceased by his father, Francis Lavalley and his son, John Lavalley.
Smokey graduated from Sutton High School and was a foreman with Donaldson Construction for over 30 years. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Betty and loved playing golf with his brothers. Smokey enjoyed having cookouts at his home with family and friends. Most of all he loved spending time with his granddaughters. Whenever anyone needed help or advise you could count on Smokey to be there. He will be deeply missed.
His wife and family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the UMass Cancer Center for their kindness and care of Smokey. Also, thank you to VNA Care Hospice for their excellent care and support.
Smokey's calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 25th from 4 to 8 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, June 26th at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Central Cemetery in Millbury.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas Street, Worcester, MA 01608.
