MILLBURY – Ernest M. Silva, 76, died Wednesday Aug. 17th at UMASS Memorial Medical after being stricken ill at his home.
He is survived by wife Dawna J. (Furbish) Tervo-Silva, a brother; Arnold Silva, a sister; Elaine Silva, three step-children, Tiffany Wilson and her husband Travis, Justin Tervo and his wife Julianne, and Bradley Tervo and his wife, Chelsea, and his seven grandchildren William, Emily, Austin, Berklee, Avery, Barrett, and Briar, with another granddaughter on the way. He is predeceased by his parents Ernesto and Sylvia DaSilva and his step-son Robert Tervo.
Ernest attended Hudson school systems where he participated in baseball and football. His senior year he was a part of the Super Bowl winning football team. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy where he went on to fight in the Vietnam War where he earned 4 military metals. Once he was discharged, he opened a restaurant in Hudson called The Bar Lunch, which he owned for 5 years. After selling, he became a bartender at the VFW in Westborough, retiring in 2007. He was an avid golf and softball player. Ernie was loved by all who had the pleasure to know him and will be deeply missed.
Family and friends are invited to his visitation from 10 to 11:30 am followed by his funeral service at 11:30 a.m. on Monday Aug. 22nd both at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury.
