SUTTON Eva E. (Benwood) Johnson, 87, formerly of 5 Church St., died Sunday, Aug. 13th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester.
She leaves two daughters, Lorna K. Chiasson of Grafton and Pamela K. Kostrzeba of Millbury; three sons, Chris and his wife Dorothy Johnson of Oxford, Charles and his wife Stella Johnson of Millbury and Ben W. Johnson of Grafton; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and two great great-grandchildren. She was born in Worcester, daughter of John and Hildur (Gilberg) Benwood. She is predeceased by a brother, Robert Benwood. Eva graduated from the former Commerce High School in Worcester in 1938.
Mrs. Johnson was a former Sutton Town Clerk before turning to a career in health services. She worked many years as a nurse at the Grafton State Hospital until it closed and retired from the Irving A. Glavin Regional Center, in Shrewsbury. She loved quilting and crosswords puzzles and was an avid Red Sox fan.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. in the Old Swedish Cemetery, Webster St., Worcester. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, Mass. Chapter, Inc. Chatham Center-Suite 450 Newton, MA 02458-1287. Mulhane Home for Funerals, Millbury is assisting the family with arrangements.
