MILLBURY – Evelyn R. (Weir) Hamilton, 88, died Saturday, Sept 5th in the Meadows of Leicester, after a lengthy illness.

Her husband, Alexander M. Hamilton died in 1988. She leaves four daughters, Nancy J. and her husband, Thomas Cantwell of Worcester, Sharon A. and her husband Marshall Katz of Spencer, Diane G. and her husband Theodore Renauld of Florida and Deborah J. and her husband Peter Guterman of Paxton; a son, Kenneth L. Hamilton of Spencer; a sister, Marion Anderson of Florida; a brother, Richard Weir of Northborough; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester and is predeceased by her parents, Archie F. and Rose E. (Mineau) Weir, a son, Richard Hamilton, a brother Archie Weir and a sister, Nina Swenson.

Mrs. Hamilton was a clerk at Jordan Marsh Department Store in Worcester before she retired. She then did volunteer work at UMASS Memorial Medical Center in Worcester and the Senior Center in Millbury and was a member of the Millbury Council on Aging and St. Brigid Church. Evelyn truly enjoyed life and being around her friends and family She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, senior trips and family outings. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude for the compassionate care their mother received during her stay at the Meadows in Leicester.

Her funeral will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 7th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Millbury Seniors, One River St., Millbury, MA 01527.
