Everett Hennessey

July 20, 1925 — February 21, 2005

MILLBURY Everett A. Hennessey, 79, of 14 Howe Lane, died Monday, Feb. 21st in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

His wife, Pauline G. (Johnson) Hennessey died in 1981. He leaves a son, David E. Hennessey of Millbury; two daughters, Holly L. Bouley and Lori A. Gannon both of Millbury; two sisters, Shirley Watrous and Ann Howe both of Worcester; six grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of Everett F. and Mae G, (Riedl) Hennessey and has lived in Millbury for over 50 years. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1950 and received a degree in electrical engineering.

Mr. Hennessey was chief electrical engineer of the machine tool division of the Brown and Sharpe Mfg. Co. in North Kingstown, Rhode Island where he worked for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He was a Navy veteran during WW II serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater as a radar operator aboard the battleship USS Iowa. He was awarded 8 battle stars and witnessed the Japanese surrender in Tokyo Bay, which ended WW II.

He was a member of St. BrigidTM)s Church and was President of the St. Vincent DePaul Society of the church, the W.P.I. Alumni Association, the Tech Old Timers, the Veterans Association of the U.S.S. Iowa, the Greendale Retired MenTM)s Club and itTM)s Golf League, the Senior MenTM)s League of the Auburn Ten Pin Bowl. He was a former member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, the Providence Engineering Society and was an institutional representative to the Boy Scouts of America.

His funeral will be held Thursday, Feb. 24th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 23rd, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury, MA 01527.
