MILLBURY - Florence Alice (Stidsen) Bengtson Born October 24, 1930 - Died Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
She was pre-deceased by her husband Frank Greeley Bengtson and her eldest son 1st Lt. Frank Walter (Wally) Bengtson. Her parents Ethel Linnea (Nielsson) and Andrew Walter Stidsen, and her sister Barbara Bridges.
She leaves her sons Jon & wife Cheryl, David & wife Lisa, James & wife Cindy, Erik & wife Kelley, Gunnar & wife Kimberly. Frank W. Jr. & wife Wendy. Her daughters Gayle & husband Kenneth Gareri, Christina & husband Michael Pelletier, Linnea & husband James Crossman. Grandsons Jon Paul, David, Andrew, Travis, Keith, Jimbo, Justin, Evan, Blake, Austin, Adam and Jimmy. Granddaughters Melanie, Elizabeth, Julie, Victoria, Hayley, Chelsea, Hanna and Sarah. Great grandchildren Cayden, Destiny, AJ, Lyla, Dylan, Taylor, Travis Jr., Amber, Trent, and another expected in September.
Florence graduated from Classical High School in Worcester. She was Millburys' last Gold Star Mother. She drove school bus for 35 years, ran the kitchens at Camp Farley on Cape Cod and The Elm Draught House Theatre. "Floey" was the best cook ever! Famous for her Sunday Dinners and her baked goods. She was a published author of many articles and her own cookbook. She loved camping with her family at Nickerson State Park, Scrapbooking and working on her family lineage. She loved to read and write short stories and poetry. Most of all she loved her children.
Her funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, prior to the funeral service in the funeral home. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester.
