AUBURN Francis M. Cichy, 66, of Auburn, formerly of Sutton, died Thursday, Oct. 16, in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He was a founder and first president, serving for 13 years, of the Wyman-Gordon Credit Union. He was a 46 year employee of the Wyman-Gordon Company in Worcester, retiring in 1999. He held various leadership positions in the Union, Local #2285 and worked for many years supporting the United Way of Central Mass.
In his retirement he spent time with his family, including his former wife, Gloria A. (Sinkavich) Cichy of Sutton; four daughters, Susan M. Donahue of Belchertown, Julia Cichy-Natoli of Webster, Paula J. Panaccione of Old Saybrook, Ct. and Linda F. Shaffer of Southborough; two sons, Francis J. Cichy of Hagerstown Maryland and Martin E. Cichy of Webster; 6 grandchildren; two aunts, Constance Rivers and Stella Spence of Pittsfield and several cousins. His first wife, Mary (Kasheta) Cichy died in 1955. He was born in Pittsfield, son of Frank and Lillian (Borkowski) Cichy and was educated in the Worcester Public Schools.
He was a communicant and a founder of St. MarkTM)s Church in Sutton and a former member of the Knights of Columbus in South Grafton. He was an avid fly fisherman and enjoyed many hobbies.
The funeral will be held Monday Oct. 20, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. MarkTM)s Catholic Church, 356 Boston Road, Sutton Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. Calling hours are 1 to 3 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 19 in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Ma. 01701 or the a charity of oneTM)s choice.
