MILLBURY - Frank J. Piscitelli Sr., 86, died Sunday, Jan. 27th at home due to a long illness in the loving care of his wife and family.
He was the husband of Filomena (Eramo) Piscitelli, they observed their Sixtieth Wedding Anniversary on May 24, 2007. Besides his wife, he leaves four sons; Fank J. Piscitelli Jr. and his wife Barbara of Sutton, James L. Piscitelli and his wife Mary, Steven P. Piscitelli and his wife Lori, and John C. Piscitelli and his wife Sandra all of Millbury; ten grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three brothers; Felix and Joseph Piscitelli of Auburn and Marino Piscitelli of Worcester; three sisters; Mary Prizio and her husband Peter of Worcester, Rose Piscitelli of Millbury and Antoinette Dempsey of Shrewsbury; a sister-in-law; Pauline Piscitelli of Worcester; many nieces and nephews. A grandchild Samantha Piscitelli and a brother Anthony A. Piscitelli Sr. predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, November 23, 1921 son of the late Marino and Michelina (DiSilvestri) Piscitelli.
He lived his younger years in Bronx, New York, returned to Worcester and joined the Army. He was a Veteran of World War II, where he served with honor in the Pacific. Moving to Millbury in 1947 where he started his family. He was an active member of St. Brigid’s Parish. Frank was a carpenter by trade, belonging to Local 107 Carpenters Union for sixty years. He was the Superintendent for several General Contractors and took pride in his work; safe and long lasting construction was of utmost importance to him. He was a Resident Engineer for D.C.P.O of Massachusetts. Frank was appointed Millbury's First Building Inspector and held his position for several years until retiring. He was Chairman of the Board of Health, a Zoning Agent and was on the Planning Board in Millbury for many years. He was on several committees in his town including the Millbury Council on Aging, capital budget and the school building committee. Frank was a trustee and member of the Charles F. Minney VFW Post and a member of the Millbury Veterans Council, both in Millbury, and a member of the Elks Lodge in Auburn. He attended the Millbury Old Timer's Banquets and was a member of the Retired Greendale Men's Club. He enjoyed time spent with family and friends at his camp on Stiles Reservoir in Spencer MA, trips with his wife and friends, and watching sports with his sons. He was also an avid gardener.
His funeral will be held Thursday, Jan. 31st from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. St. Brigid's Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in St. Brigid's Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 30th in the funeral home. Members of the Charles F. Minney Post VFW and Millbury Veterans Council will conduct a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the evening calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to VNA Care Network, Inc. Development Office 120 Thomas Street Worcester, MA 01608-1280 or a charity of the donor's choice.
