WORCESTER Franklin A. and Shirley L. (Harper) Rivers, husband and wife, of 131 Massasoit Rd., both died Wednesday, Sept. 20th .
Mr. and Mrs. Rivers leave two daughters, Deborah L. wife of Steven Macduff Sr. of Worcester and Alison M. wife of James Burke of Clinton; five grandchildren, Steven, Timothy and Andrew Macduff and Lynne and Kaitlyn Burke; two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Rivers also leaves a sister, Ruth Santon of Albany, NY. Mr. Rivers also leaves three brothers, Laroyce Rivers of Florida, Merle Rivers of Virginia and William Rivers of Chatham; four sisters, Barbara Whitehead of Hyannis, Lillian Schwab of CA, Brenda Nickerson of Hyannis and Sandy Guzman of NY; a step-sister, Gloria Blumfield of TX. A daughter, Lynne A. Rivers, died in 1978. Mr. Rivers is also predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Rivers and a sister, Nancy Rivers. Mr. Rivers was born in Whitman, son of Laroyce and Edith (Redfern) Rivers. Mrs. Rivers was born in Millbury, daughter of Charles and Johanna (Daw) Harper.
Mr. Rivers was a laborer for J.S. Prunier and Sons, before he retired. Mrs. Rivers was customer Service Rep. for Jamesbury-Neles Company in Worcester, before she retired.
Mr. and Mrs. RiversTM) funeral will be held Friday, Sept. 22nd from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury, with a Mass at 11:30 a.m. in St. StephenTM)s Church, 357 Grafton St. Worcester. Burial will be private in St. BrigidTM)s Cemetery, Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21st in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the UMASS Medical School Diabetes Research, 373 Plantation St., Worcester, MA 01605.
