Freda Orsi

MILLBURY - Freda Lorraine Orsi (LaCasse) 72 of Millbury, MA passed away peacefully on January 9, 2022 in Englewood FL. due to complications from Covid-19.  She was the wife of Louis A Orsi, they shared 50 years of marriage and two beautiful daughters together.

Born in Worcester, MA she was the daughter of Normand J and Freda L LaCasse (Smith).  She graduated from Doherty High School in 1967.  She married her high school sweetheart in 1971 and dedicated most of her time to raising their two children and later enjoying her greatest joys, her grandchildren.  She has held many jobs as a waitress in her younger years and retired from Sears Optical as an Optician in 2012.

In 2014 after long suffering with COPD and Arterial Pulmonary Hypertension, Freda defied all odds and underwent a double lung transplant that came in the 11th hour.  She pulled through that with the determination that only a grandmother could have.  Freda had so much more to see and do!  Birthdays, high school and college graduations, watching the fireworks on the 4th of July, making her infamous Tortellini Soup and Pizzelle’s for the holidays and attending her grandkids many sporting events.  Freda loved the beach and enjoyed her vacations to Aruba every year as well as the beaches near their winter home in Florida, especially Boca Grande where she enjoyed visits from the dolphins. She loved watching birds from both her homes and was very proud of attracting the orioles up north. Freda also enjoyed trips to the casino with her sister-in-law and best friend Linda.  She was an avid Red Sox fan and could often be found cheering for “her” team whether it be in the stands at Fenway, spring training or from the kitchen table.   On her wish list was to make it to her 50th wedding anniversary which her and Louie celebrated this past April.  Also, on her to do list was to attend her oldest granddaughters wedding which she cheerfully checked off this past September.  It would only take a short conversation with her to know how proud she was of her family, especially her grandchildren.  She loved them fiercely and they were her proudest accomplishment.  If you knew her, then you likely received a hug that went on for days.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Louis A Orsi of Millbury, MA, daughter Gina L Orsi of Millbury, MA, daughter Cheryl L Cobb and her husband Douglas of South Burlington, VT, sister Brenda L Garry and her husband Michael of West End, NC, six grandchildren, Aidan L Lis, Danica J Lis, Ross Cobb and his partner Robyn Jacobs, Madison Zamarripa and her husband Gabriel, Grace Richland and Sofia Richland.  She also leaves a large extended family of nieces and nephews and in-laws to whom she was extremely close to and loved dearly.

Freda’s Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday January 18, 2022 at 10:30am in St Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street in Millbury.  Facemasks will be required.  To view the live stream of Freda’s service, please visit her tribute page on the funeral homes website.
