WOODSTOCK, CT – Genevieve Y. (Morello) Provost, 76, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 20, 2009. She was born in Lac Megantic, Quebec, the daughter of Romeo and Annette Provost. She had ten siblings; Charles, Jules, Jean-Paul, Monique, Bernard, and Leandre who predeceased her and Felix, Marcelle, Denis, and Eugene who all currently reside in Quebec. She was predeceased by her first husband Henry "Bud" Morello, Sr. and her two sons Henry Jr. and Glenn Morello. She leaves behind her daughter Kay and her husband Michael Young of Thompson, CT; a son John Robert Morello of Worcester, MA. She was lovingly called Meme by John, Robyn, and Rose Young, Amanda Morello, Tiana Putnam, and Molly Morello.
Genevieve lived in Canada until she moved to the US at the age of 26 when marrying Henry. Together they lived and raised their children in Worcester, MA and Warren, MI. Later in life she lived in Mio, MI and made many wonderful friends that she always held dear. For the last fifteen years she lived close to her daughter and grandchildren in Woodstock, CT.
She worked hard over the years at different jobs, of which her favorites were cake decorating and working as a seamstress. No matter where she worked or lived she always brought a smile to people's faces with jokes and stories or by just being a good friend. She appreciated simple moments with family and friends, enjoying good food, and playing cards. She was an animal lover who at one time raised Schnauzers and more recently enjoyed training her parakeets to speak French and perform tricks. Some other hobbies over the years were knitting, crocheting, bowling and an occasional trip to the casino. Genevieve was a devoted mother and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by her loved ones.
The family would like to thank Dr. Botta and Associates and the staff of Day Kimball Hospital of CT as well as the caring nurses and doctors of UMASS Lakeside ICU for their loving help and support.
