George J. Carroll, Sr., 66, died Friday, November 30, 2012 in his home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
He leaves his wife of 21 years, Connie L. (Atherton) Carroll; two daughters, Jody Tozer and her husband, Mark of Worcester and their five sons, Matthew, Luke, John, Simon and Joshua and his great grandson, Harper and Brenna Cardoza and her husband TJ of Grafton and her daughter, Caroline and son, James; three step-sons, Robert Craig and his wife Tommi of Barre and their daughter, Alysia and son, Sean; Patrick Craig of Wyoming and Clinton Craig and his wife Susan of Grafton and their son, Thomas and two daughters, Brooke and Melanie. He also leaves a brother, Joseph, and sister, Jayne. George is predeceased by his first wife, Diane M. (Linde) Carroll who died in 1988 and son, Gig Carroll, Jr. who died in 2009.
George owned Jordan's Auto Service in Grafton, and had worked there for over 45 years. He served as a volunteer firefighter in Grafton for many years. George was an avid outdoorsman, especially skilled hunting and fishing. He was a true New England sports fan, following the Patriots, Bruins, and Sox loyally. He enjoyed going to his grandchildren's games and will be dearly missed as perhaps their biggest fan. George was an active member of the Grafton Historical Society for many years, serving as Treasurer and President. He had a true passion for the veterans of WWII and enjoyed doing historical research.
George's funeral will be held Wednesday, Dec. 5th at 10:30 a.m.in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Grafton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4th in the funeral home.
