George Arthur D'Auteuil, Sr. died in his home surrounded by his loving family on February 28th, 2014 after a long illness.
He is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of 53 years, Pauline (Bernard) D'Auteuil, two daughters, Michelle Desorcy and her husband Donald, Monique Hager and her fiancée Alexander Buko, and one son, Paul D'Auteuil. He leaves eight grandchildren, Christine Desorcy, Kathleen Colon and her husband Erving, James Hager, Thomas Hager, Nicholas D'Auteuil, Hayley D'Auteuil, Matthew D'Auteuil and Brendan D'Auteuil. He also leaves one brother, Ron D'Auteuil and his wife, Marie, two brother-in-laws, Arthur Bernard and his wife Simone, Joseph Vecchione and his wife Mary Ann, one loving aunt and Godmother, Rita Plourde, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts and is predeceased by his parents George Joseph D'Auteuil and Marie (Guilmette) D'Auteuil, his son, George D'Auteuil, Jr., two sisters Geraldine Derry, Carol Mowyer, one brother, Philippe D'Auteuil.
George graduated from Holy Name of Jesus High School in 1956 and served in the United States Air Force. For those who knew him, know that he was a hard working businessman who started Frank Rubbish Removal, Inc. in 1965 until illness forced him to retire in December 2012. He was a devoted, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and great uncle. His family and his extended family were the priorities in his life. He was a man of prayer and great faith and devotion to God. He prayed daily for many family and friends that touched his life. He was a former adult advisor to the Catholic Youth Council at Assumption Church, former Chairman of the Annual Bishop's Fund and thirty year member of the Assumption Church choir which meant so much to him.
He was also an active, dedicated community leader and volunteer in the Town of Millbury. He was a former Vice-Chairman of the Millbury Board of Selectmen, and former member of the Board of Health (appointed). He served on the Solid Waste Advisory Committee, Building Committee for the transfer station, Solid Waste Disposal Committee, Dollars for Scholars committee at the Millbury High School and helped initiate the Environmental Council at Millbury High School and served as Chairman of the Butler Farm Re-Use Committee. He was also recognized with special honors by the Millbury Lions Club as recipient of the Humanitarian Award and further honored as Grand Marshall at the annual Lions Day parade. George enjoyed hunting with his son, dancing with his wife, enjoying all time with family at the pool and caring for his rose garden. George served on the Board of Directors of the Boston Cured Cancer Club for Laryngectomees.
His funeral was be held Friday, March 7th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. in Assumption Church, 10 Waters St. in Millbury. Calling hours were 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 6th in the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury.
