George Watt

SUTTON George H. Watt, 90, died Monday, May 23rd in Beaumont Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Northbridge, surrounded by his loving family.

His wife of 57 years, Mae L. (Bengtson) Watt died in 2002. George leaves three daughters, Sharyn E. Watt and her partner, Harry L. Gibson of Fullerton, CA, Shirley E. Wandland and her partner, Jeff W. Merrick of Grafton and Joan E. Newton and her husband, Neil E. of Sutton; five grandchildren, Tara Emco-Phaneuf, Tanya Magnuson, Travis Wandland, Ian and Justin Newton; six great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was born in Barre, Vermont and is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Eliza (Stuart) Watt; one sister and four brothers.

He graduated from Spaulding High School in Barre, Vermont in 1939. He worked most of his life for Glover Woodturning Mill in West Millbury, New England High Carbon Wire in Millbury and Wyman-Gordon Company in Grafton. George was a WW II Army veteran. He enjoyed being an auctioneer for many years. He was an avid gardener and loved woodworking.

George's funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, May 27th in the First Congregational Church, 148 West Main St., in Millbury. Burial will be in All Faiths Cemetery in Worcester. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 26th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., in Millbury. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church, 148 West Main St., Millbury, MA 01527.
