SUTTON Gerard N. "Jerry" Anderson, 60, of 194 Burbank Rd., died Friday, April 2nd in his home, surrounded by his family, after a short battle with cancer.
He leaves his loving wife of 37 years, Beverly B. (Borland) Anderson; a daughter, Kristen A. Anderson of Millbury; a son, Glenn S. Anderson of Agawam; his mother, Thyra (Nelson) Anderson of Bristol, Ct.; a sister, Linda Anderson of Wolcott, Ct.; a grandchild, Kailey OTM)Neil; nephews and nieces. He was born in Bristol, Ct., son of the late Gustaf Anderson. He graduated from Bristol Eastern High School in 1961 and Central Connecticut State College in 1965 where he also received his Masters Degree.
Mr. Anderson was the general manager of the Learning Center in Marlborough, where he worked for 22 years. Previously he was employed as student activities director at Tunxis Community College in Farmington, Ct., previous to that he was program director of the student union at Central Connecticut State College in New Britain Ct.
He was a member and Deacon of the First Congregational Church of Sutton and a member and past president of the Sutton Lions Club. He was a recipient of the Melvin Jones award from Lions Clubs International Foundation.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 6th in the First Congregational Church, on the common, 307 Boston Rd., Sutton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, April, 5th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Red Cross Chapter, 61 Harvard St., Worcester, Ma. 01609 or to the Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd., Sutton, Ma. 01590.
