Germaine A. (Elie) Belanger, 81, formerly of Millbury and most recently of Northborough, passed away peacefully with the support of her loving family, on Saturday evening, July 9th at Life Care Center in Auburn.
Germaine joins her husband of 59 years, Eugene Armand Belanger, who passed away in April of this year. She leaves a sister Cecile Lussier, of Auburn; a sister Aline Dubois and her husband Norman, of Cumberland, RI; a brother Gilles and his wife Delores of Sebastion, FL; her son, Armand Belanger and his wife Minerva Villanueva-Belanger, of Oxford; two daughters, Denise Lombardo and her husband Rob, of Whitinsville and Jeanne Lillie and her husband Patrick, of Millbury; nine grandchildren: Armand, Stephanie, Kim, and their mother, Cheryl Belanger, Katelyn, Nicholas, Nicole, Stephen, Michael, and Elliot; ten great grandchildren: Amber, Hunter, Cooper, Connor, Max, Mykel, Mehki, Marco, Micah, and Elijah; and many nieces, nephews and their families.
She is also predeceased by her parents, Wilfred and Ida (Spooner) Elie; three brothers, infant baby brother, Marcel and his wife Nicole, and Emile and his wife Carol; infant baby sister; and a brother in law, Oscar Lussier.
Germaine was born in La Patrie, in the Province of Quebec, Canada. She lived in Manchaug and Worcester as a child and young adult. She and her husband Eugene eventually moved to Millbury, where they raised their family. Her work history includes Baker's Department Store, Chicago Beef, The Mart, Fidelity Bank, and Sears. Germaine's main focus and biggest love in life was her family and it was what gave her the most joy. She cared for her family selflessly, always putting their needs first. She enjoyed getting together with friends, whether it be for coffee and conversation, playing dominoes or the occasional shopping trip. Germaine found joy in helping others and also liked to read. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Millbury, and St. Louis Church in Webster. She will be remembered as a loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, who will be dearly missed.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 13th from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday, July 14th with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption, 10 Water Street in Millbury. Burial will be at Central Cemetery in Millbury, with reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Parkinson's research.
