Gertrude Ellstrom

Gertrude S. (Kosciucyzk) "Kosky" Ellstrom, 89, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 7th in Care One of Millbury.

Gertrude was married to the love of her life, Donald G. Ellstrom in 1954 and moved from Worcester to Millbury.  They enjoyed 60 years of marriage until his death in 2014.  She is also predeceased by a son, Thomas Ellstrom; her parents, Leon and Emelia (Boltruczk) Kosciuczyk and her brothers, Theodore and Alfred Kosciucyzk.  Gertrude leaves a son, Michael Ellstrom and his wife, Patricia of Key West, FL.

Gertrude graduated from the former Commerce High School in Worcester and worked part time in several “downtown” stores during her school years.  After graduation Gertrude worked as a secretary at Riley Stoker in Worcester.  Upon moving to Millbury she became active in the Millbury Women’s Club and became a member of the Women’s Golf League at Clearview Country Club.  Gert enjoyed people and there were many gatherings at the house, cookouts, holidays, after golf parties and those that came up at the spur of the moment.  She enjoyed cooking, particularly the foods from her Polish heritage.

Gertrude’s funeral service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 10th at 10 a.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main Street in Millbury.

Her calling hours will be held before the service from 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home.  Burial will follow the service in Central Cemetery in Millbury.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alternatives Unlimited Inc., 60 Douglas Road, Whitinsville, MA 01588.  Alternatives Unlimited is a human service agency that works with adults with disabilities.
