MILLBURY - Gertrude M. (Small) Stankaitis, 98, of 154 North Main St., died Tuesday, July 8, in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Worcester.
Her husband, William G. Stankaitis died in 1963. She leaves nephews and nieces. A brother, Wellington Small and a sister Beulah Small predeceased her. She was born in Millbury, daughter of James and Margaret (OTM)Neil) Small and has lived in Millbury all her life. She graduated from Millbury High School.
Mrs. Stankaitis was a bookkeeper at the former Denholm & McKay Department Store in Worcester, 23 years, before her marriage. She and her husband then ran StankaitisTM) Market on Millbury St. in Worcester for many years. She was a member of St. BrigidTM)s Church, the Millbury Golden Age, the AARP, Greendale chapter and was a member of the former St. BrigidTM)s WomenTM)s Club.
The funeral will be held Friday, July 11 from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., ( www.mulhane.com ) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St. Burial will be in St. BrigidTM)s Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 10, in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St., Millbury, Ma. 01527 or to a charity of oneTM)s choice.
