CHARLTON - Gloria Anne (Jackson) Polewarczyk Herbst, 86, died Saturday, Feb. 25th at Overlook Masonic Home.
Her husband, John W. Herbst, Jr. died in 2012, and her first husband, Edward T. Polewarczyk, also died in 2012. Her son Michael E. Polewarczyk died in 2009. She leaves a daughter, Phyllis Hanlon and her husband, Richard of Charlton; five grandchildren: Matthew Hanlon and his wife Lorraine Meere of Dalkey, Ireland, Kathryn Hardy and her husband Eli of Charlton, Kevin Hanlon and his wife Lori of Webster, Bunny Hanlon and her husband Rob of Milford, and Christine Polewarczyk of Skaneateles, New York; eleven great grandchildren: Dylan and A�ine Hanlon, Teofila, Aniela, Lincoln and Berkeley Hardy, Ryan and Lindsey Hanlon, Liam and Meara Hanlon, and Vanessa Herbert; a sister, Alice Mansfield of Beverly; nieces and nephews. She was born in Beverly and is predeceased by her parents, Willis Carl and Olive L (McAllister) Jackson, three brothers and two sisters.
Gloria graduated from the David Hale Fanning School of Nursing as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). She worked at Fallon Clinic for many years before moving to Florida where she lived for 23 years. In Florida, Gloria was employed at the Largo Medical Center before she retired. During retirement she enjoyed playing golf and traveling. She was an enthusiastic Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Gloria was thrilled to see the Patriots win their fifth title. Her move back to Massachusetts provided an opportunity for her to spend more time with family. As a resident of Overlook Enhanced Living, she made many friends and served as president of the Resident's Council. The family thanks the staff at Overlook for their kindness and support. Gloria touched many lives and will be deeply missed.
Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1st in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main St. in Millbury. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 2nd in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main St. in Millbury and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave. Waltham, MA 02451-4500 or to the American Lung Association, www.lung.org .
