Gordon Young

SUTTON – Gordon J. Young, 89, passed away Saturday, Feb. 17th in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Gordon’s wife of 54 years, Elaine V. (Boucher) Young passed away in 2005.  He leaves seven children, Linda wife of Richard Ezold of Sutton, James Young and his wife Natalie of Millbury, Patricia wife of Donald Henderson of Uxbridge, Brian Young and his wife Barbara of Millbury, Steven Young and his wife Colleen of South Carolina, Christine wife of Francis Couture of Sutton and Richard Young and his husband Andre Young of Sutton; 16 grandchildren, Rich, Lynn, Trish, Jay, Tim, Cindy, Jen, Donny, Brianna, Stef, Nicol, Brian, Shanna, Kim, Jenn and Lisa; 25 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.  He is predeceased by his parents, George and Margaret (Lynch) Young; his brother, George T. Young, Jr. and his sister, Elizabeth Prybyla.

Gordon loved to travel with his wife, Elaine, they drove and visited every state in the country.  He also  enjoyed wood working and raising chickens.  Most of all Gordon loved to spend time with his family, especially on the annual family vacation to Wells, Maine.  He worked on Young’s Chicken Farm in Sutton until the tornado of 1953.  Gordon was a milk man for Eaton Dairy Farm and Salmonsen’s Dairy for many years.  After working on the dairy farms he became a bus driver for the Worcester Regional Transit Authority until his retirement in 1992.  After retirement he drove school bus part-time in Millbury.  Gordon will be remembered as a kind and gentle man who dedicated his life to his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was an inspiration to all who loved him and will be sadly missed.

Gordon’s funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, Feb. 21st at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury.  The family requests that all those attending the Mass go directly to the church.  His committal service will follow in Central Cemetery, Millbury.
