MILLBURY - H. Linnea (Ekstrom) Stead, 88, of One Harris Grove, died Wednesday, June 6, in the Providence House Nursing Home of Millbury.
Her husband, Joseph A. Stead died in 1985. She leaves two sons, Ronald A. Stead of Millbury and Peter D. Stead of Portland, Maine; a brother, Milton Ekstrom of Florida; five grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Andrew and Amelia (Johnson) Ekstrom and has lived in Millbury most of her life. She graduated from Millbury High School in 1932 and then attended Comptometer School in Worcester.
Mrs. Stead was a manager and treasurer of the CD Whitney Insurance Co. where she worked for 26 years, retiring in 1978. She was also a cooperator at the Millbury Savings Bank.
She was a member of the Millbury Federated Church and its WomenTM)s Fellowship and a former treasurer of the church. She was a member of Church Women United, the Millbury Golden Age, the Bancroft Chapter of the AARP, the Millbury Historical Society, a member of the former Millbury District Nursing Society Inc. and a member and former treasurer of the Millbury WomanTM)s Club
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 9 in the Millbury Federated Church, 20 Main St. Burial will be in Central Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Music Fund of the Millbury Federated Church, 20 Main St., Millbury, Ma. 01527 or the Memorial Fund for Children in care of United Unitarian Church, 524 Allen Ave., Portland, Maine 04103. Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. is in charge of the arrangements.
