MILLBURY Halfred H. Chambers, 88, of .17 Highland Ave., died Monday, January 12th, in VNA Care Hospice Residence, in Worcester.
He leaves his wife, Elizabeth (Geyer) Nickerson Chambers; three daughters, Elaine B. Bush of Millbury, and Diana S. Grenier and Donna M. Sinkus both of Sutton; two step-sons James E. Nickerson of Worcester and Steven Nickerson of Millbury; a sister, Elizabeth Ott of Lunenburg, seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren His first wife, Alice R. (Fayard) Chambers died in 1985. He was born in Fitchburg, son of the late Halfred and May E. (Wood) Chambers and has lived here 58 years..
Mr. Chambers was employed by Local #70 Painters Union in Worcester, before he retired in 1983. He was a Merchant Marine during WW II. He was a present member and former member of the Board of Directors of the Millbury Council on Aging and a life member of Dudley-Gendron American Legion Post # 414.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 15th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. Burial will be in St. BrigidTM)s Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14th in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, 120 Thomas St., Worcester, Ma. 01608.
