MILLBURY Harold C. "Jake" Army, 89, of 58 West Main St., died Thursday, Nov. 20th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

His wife Doris A. (Adams) Army died in 1992. He leaves a niece, Elizabeth Vulter of Jensen Beach, Fl.,; four great nieces, Cheryl Lange of Florida, Laurie Stratford of Sutton, Lee Ann Dionne of Millbury and Beth Boisvert of Oxford; a great nephew, Louis Eramo of California; eight great great nephew and nieces and a great great great nephew. A brother, Roger J. Army died 1999. He was born in Millbury, son of Arthur E. and Edna (Rice) Army and has lived here all his life. He graduated from Millbury High School in 1933 and then attended Holy Cross College, in Worcester.

Mr. Army was a salesman for Millbury Motor Co., when the company was located in Millbury, for 15 years, retiring in 1979. Previously he worked at ScannellTM)s Package Store, for 18 years. He was Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II, serving in the Asiatic Pacific Theater.

Mr. Army was one of the original organizers of the Millbury Little League and the Millbury Pee Wee Basketball League in the 1950TM)s. He was a past president of the Millbury Little League, the Millbury Pee Wee Basketball League and the Millbury Golden Age. He was an outstanding athlete while at Millbury High School and was captain of both the baseball and basketball teams in his senior year. He was elected to the Millbury High School Hall of Fame in 1999 and was MillburyTM)s Honored Old Timer at the 2001 Millbury Old Timers Banquet.

His funeral will be held Monday, Nov. 24th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. BrigidTM)s Church, 59 Main St. Burial will be in Central Cemetery. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 23rd , in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, Ma. 01701.
