CHARLTON - Helen E. (Pettis) Mooney, 88, formerly of Millbury, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 12th.
Helen leaves her husband of 32 years, James F. Mooney; three daughters, Patricia Gardner, Donna Morin and Barbara Walsh; three stepchildren, Laureen Cadorette, Kathleen (David) Sampson, and James Mooney; grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Betty Lou Raymond and Beverly Beaumiere. Helen is predeceased by a daughter, Lee A. Canty, her first husband, Ernest Canty and three siblings, Richard Pettis, Harold Pettis and Shirley Bullock.
Helen was a hardworking, caring, loving and sometimes referred to as a “feisty” woman. She travelled extensively alongside Jim during her retirement years. Her favorite destination being Ireland. She was a member of the A.O.H Ladies Auxiliary. Helen was a lover of fun-times, and dancing. Her family would like to thank the Lanessa Nursing Home for their compassionate and loving care. Helen will be greatly missed by her family and loved ones.
Family and friends will remember and celebrate Helen’s life with a time of visitation on Tuesday, Feb. 15th from 5 to 7 p.m. at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury.
Her funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 16th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street in Millbury. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery, Millbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue, 110 Chapin Rd. Hudson, MA 01749.
