SUTTON – Helen M. (Silun) Ordung, 90, died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.
Born September 11, 1919, she leaves her four sons, Wayne Laferiere of Spencer, Brian Ordung and his wife Janet of Woonsocket, RI, Bruce Goodney of Worcester and Wendell Champagne and his wife Martha of Fairfield, PA; a sister, Louise Botica of Dabary, FL; eight grandchildren, Mellisa and Brian Ordung, Jr. of Woonsocket, RI, Tammy Majowicz of Putnam, CT, John Laferiere of Spencer, Samatha Laferiere of Worcester, Helen Laferiere of Warren, Wayne Laferiere, Jr. of Nevada and Amber Laferiere of Worcester; eight great-grandchildren, Reese Savage, Harmony Dupre, Corey Ordung, and Grace Ordung all of Woonsocket, RI, Eugene and Ashley of Putnam, CT, Bendon and Madison Laferiere of Spencer. She was the devoted wife to the late Arthur Ordung of Sutton. The daughter of Walter and Genevieve (Sroka) Silun of Sutton. She is predeceased by two brothers, Frank and Stanely Silun and a sister Julie Tebo.
She was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Sutton for many years. The latest years of her life she spent teaching rug braiding. Helen loved participating at Water's Farm every fall while demonstrating her rug braiding and selling the finished rugs to visitors.
Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29th in the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Rd., on the common in Sutton. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 28th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of Sutton Senior's, 19 Hough Road, Sutton, MA 01590 or to the First Congregational Church, 307 Boston Road, Sutton, MA 01590.
