MILLBURY / ATHOL – Henry D'Orto Sr., 88, of Athol, formerly of Millbury died Sunday, Sept. 27th in the Legend Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Gardner.
He leaves his wife, Estelle (Bennett) D'Orto; a son, Henry D'Orto Jr. and his wife Katherine of Athol; a granddaughter, Victoria D'Orto of Athol; four step-sons, Donald Nelson of Florida, Richard Nelson of Florida, Daniel Benoit of Virginia and Gerard Bunnell of Virginia; two step-daughters, Judith Ebberling of Uxbridge and Sharon Francalangia of Millbury; a step-brother, John D'Orto of Lawrence; 14 step-grandchildren; 9 step-great grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Lawrence and is predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Carmela (Cantarelle) D'Orto, his 1st wife, Hazel (Burgess) Bolduc and his 2nd wife, Eleanor (Carter) D'Orto.
Henry owned and operated the former Flying Saucier on Rt. 20 and Greenwood St. in Worcester from 1950 to 1969. He then worked in area restaurants. After his retirement he worked at McLaughlin's Service Station in Millbury for 9 years. He was an Army veteran during WW II serving in Algeria French Morocco, Sicily and Tunisia.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, Sept. 30th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton, with military honors. Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 29th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Massachusetts Veterans Inc. 69 Grove Street Worcester, MA 01605.
