HOLMES, Jacqueline (Rock), of East Falmouth. Jacqueline passed away with her family by side on September 26th in her home, after a valiant fight with dementia.
She was born in Millbury on November 11th, 1934, to the late Homer E. and Lilla (Woodward) Rock. She was raised in Millbury and graduated from Millbury High School. She worked at the Millbury Savings Bank and Wyman Gordon. She would travel with her friend to Cape Cod on vacations, where she would meet her husband Stephen P. Holmes on the beach in Popponesset. They later married and she moved to Newton with him, and they had three children. She worked as a data processor at Star Market, and later worked in billing for the Holmes family plumbing business, R.P. Holmes in West Newton. They enjoyed many many summer and winter weekends in Popponesset. They traveled to Cozumel for many years and enjoyed travel. She would later move to East Falmouth, with her husband and youngest son, where she lived until her passing. She worked for many years with her oldest son at his Optometry practice, See Breeze Optical in Sandwich and Buzzards Bay. She enjoyed living on the ocean, her cat Roxie, and spending time with her family and her grandson. She was predeceased by her husband, Stephen P. Holmes in 2014. She was also predeceased by her four siblings, Robert Rock, William Rock, Carolyn Forsberg and Judith Foisy.
She is survived by her children Stephen P. Holmes Jr. and his husband, Dean, of Bourne, Susanne Holmes Ferzoco, and her husband David, of Newton and East Falmouth, and Kevin Holmes and his wife Marianne, of East Falmouth. She is also survived by her grandson Tyler Holmes, and step grandchildren, Nick Ferzoco, Lisa Ferzoco, and Zachary Franklin, as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She will be missed dearly by her friends and family.
Visiting hours will be held from 5-8pm on Tuesday, Sep. 29th and from 10:30-11:00am on Wednesday, Sep. 30th at the Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 475 Main Street, Falmouth . A graveside service will follow at 11:30am at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, 167 E. Falmouth Hwy (Route 28), in East Falmouth.
