James "Bruce" Arrington, 77, died Saturday, April 6, 2013 in the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester, after a long illness.
Bruce leaves his wife of 34 years, Audrey A. (Middleton) Arrington; four children, Laura married to John Brink of Grand Rapids, MI, Mary married to Joseph Wolf of Clarion, PA, Sharon married to Keith Maynard of Texarkana, TX and William Blunt married to Mary Blunt of Millbury, MA; ten grandchildren, Justin, Ryan, and Aaron Brink, Paige and Kelsey Wolf, Madison, Meredith, and Blake Maynard, William and Christina Blunt. He is predeceased by his parents, James and Dorinda (Black) Arrington and a sister, Mary Jane Roche.
Bruce was Vice President of Group Insurance at Commercial Union Life, before he retired. He also worked for Paul Revere Insurance Company and Central Mass. Regional Planning Commission. Bruce was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp, serving as a pilot and retired from the Reserve Unit as a Major after 17 Years of service. He graduated from Wellesley High School where he played football and was Vice President of his class. Bruce also graduated from Trinity College in Hartford, CT where he was a member of the Alpha Delta Phi Fraternity. He was a member of the Millbury Finance Committee from 1989 to 2004, serving as the committee's chair from 1992 to 2004. Bruce enjoyed snow skiing, boating on Ramshorn Pond, reading and playing golf.
Bruce's calling hours will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 13th in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be held in West Millbury Cemetery at a later date, at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the VNA Care Network & Hospice, Rose Monahan Hospice Home, 10 Judith Rd., Worcester, MA 01602-3213.
