WORCESTER – James H. "Runner" Kupfer, 70, died Saturday, October 20, 2012 in his home after being stricken ill.
He leaves a daughter, Jacqueline M. Gabbett and her husband, Kevin of Worcester; a brother, Charles P. Kupfer and his wife, Susan of Millbury; five grandchildren, Ronnie, Jason and Matthew Kupfer and Kevin and Ryan Gabbett; seven great grandchildren; a niece, Christine Maselli of Grafton; a devoted friend, Denise Sabonaitis. He was born in Worcester, and is predeceased by his parents, Charles and Catherine A. (Miner) Kupfer a brother, Donald Kupfer and a son Ronald Kupfer.
James was a brakeman for the New York Central Railroad, retiring in 1997 due to illness. He was an avid outdoorsman and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
His calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23rd followed by a funeral service at 7 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be private in St. John's Cemetery in Worcester. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105 or www.stjude.org of which he was an strong supported.
