North Grosvenordale, CT - James P. Roy., 53, formerly of Sutton, MA died Saturday, April 16th 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim is survived by his fiancAC., Sonia Pantoja, his father Vincent C. Roy Jr. and his wife, Susan of Sutton, his brother Vincent J. Roy of Franklin, a sister, Lori Johnson and her husband, Kevin of Oxford, and a sister in law Brenda Roy of Dudley. He is also survived by nephews and nieces, Nicholas Roy of Worcester, Alexis Roy of Brooklyn, N.Y., Anthony Roy of Dudley, Vincent and Ava Johnson of Oxford. He was predeceased in death by his mother Carol A. (Drezek) Roy, brothers Robert A. Roy and William D. Roy.

Jim was born in Worcester MA and was raised in Sutton MA. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1981. He served in the United States Marine Corps following high school and was honorably discharged in 1988. Jim served several tours oversees, most notably the Peace Keeping Missions in Beirut, Lebanon. Following his enlistment in the Marine Corps, Jim made a career as a Corrections Officer for the State of Connecticut, having recently retired in 2014.

Jim was an exceptional athlete in High School, having been named captain of his high school soccer and basketball teams. He was extremely proud of his Military Service and his career in corrections. He loved going to car shows and spending times at Old Orchard Beach. He was an extremely caring person devoted to his fiancAC., family and friends. He was avid sports fan, enjoying golf and skiing. Jim had a great sense of humor. He was known for his crazy dance moves and unquestionably, enjoyed life to the fullest.

His funeral will be held Thursday, April 21st from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, MA with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, 356 Boston Rd. in Sutton, MA. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20th in the funeral home. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery in Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Project New Hope (Assistance Military Veterans) 70 James Street, Suite 157, Worcester, Massachusetts 01603.
