James F. Tabor, 72, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, May 17th surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jim leaves his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy (Dziedzic) Tabor; a son, Jeffrey Tabor and his wife, Mary of Jacksonville, FL and their sons, Patrick, William and Andrew; two daughters, Mary Beth McCarthy and her husband, Ryan of Millbury and their sons, Brennan, Brady and Bryson and Pamela Croteau and her husband, Jason of Webster and their children, Kylee, Mandy and Alex; his sister, Patricia Rickard of Northborough; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Cecelia (Szymczak) Tabor of Webster.
Jim grew up in Webster and graduated from Bartlett High School and American University in Washington D.C.. After being discharged from the United States Navy he worked for the Central Intelligence Agency. He also worked in the high tech industry as a purchasing manager for over 40 years.
Jim "Gramps" was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. It brought him great joy to watch his grandchildren's sporting events and he was their number one fan. Jim loved being surrounded by his family and always hosted family cookouts and holiday gatherings. He was an accomplished chef and everyone looked forward to his meals. Jim was an avid Florida State, Patriots and Millbury High football fan. His passion was landscaping and took pride in his yard and flower gardens. Jim enjoyed spending his winters in Siesta Key, Florida with his wife, family and friends. The family would like to thank Dr. David Shepro, nurses and staff at the St. Vincent Cancer & Wellness Center for their kindness and excellent care that will always be remembered.
Jim's calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 21st from 4 to 7 p.m. at Roney Funeral Home, 152 Worcester Street in North Grafton.
His Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 22nd at Noon in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 12 Waters Street in Millbury. For those attending the Funeral Mass we ask you go directly to the church the day of the funeral. Burial will be private.
