MILLBURY-Jane A. (Wragg) Bergeron, Formally of Wilbraham Ma, 91, passed away peacefully at home.
Jane leaves two children, Stephen and his wife Kathy of Somerset, Ma; Judy Bastarache and her husband Joe; four grandchildren, Kyle Bergeron, Molly LaCroix and her husband Eric, Shelby Bastarache, Emmett Bastarache; one great granddaughter, Charlotte. She is predeceased by her husband Charles A. Bergeron Jr., and her granddaughter Emily Elizabeth Bastarache.
Jane was a Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing Graduate, class of 1949. She loved every minute of being a nurse and was very proud to be a M. G. H. graduate.
Jane married Charlie in Germany in 1955 while he was in the army. Upon returning to the states, they settled in Wilbraham where they raised their family. She was very active in her town and church. Jane and Charlie loved to camp especially at Acadia National Park in Maine and Mt. Philo in Vermont. Jane was married to the love of her life for 42 years. In 1998, after Charlie died Jane moved to Millbury to live with her daughter and her family. There she reconnected with the Episcopal Church, St. John’s in Sutton.
Jane’s greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Many happy hours were spent playing with Gram. An avid knitter, Jane made hundreds of sweaters and thousands of pairs of socks. Jane was a loving, funny and wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She will deeply be missed.
Beautifully stated by a friend of the family: “Jane was a strong, independent women who, perhaps even unknowingly, led the way for future generations of strong independent women.”
Jane’s funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 7th at 11 a.m. in the Holy Spirit Church formerly St. John’s Episcopal Church, 3 Pleasant Street in Sutton. Burial will be private.
