John L. Elliott, 86, died Saturday in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester, surrounded by his family.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Betty Lou (Bristol) Elliott; a son, Ken Elliott and his wife, Beth of Millbury; seven grandchildren, Adam and John McClintock, Heather Stoddard, Ryan Boutilier, Jacquelynn and Duncan Elliott and Thomas Brothers; four great grandchildren; a sister, Barbara Rockwood of Florida; nephews and nieces. He was born in Woonsocket RI and is predeceased by his parents, John R. and Evelyn (Couthier) Elliott and a daughter, Lynn Boutilier.
John was a building inspector for the city of Worcester for 25 years, retiring in 1992. He previously worked as a union mason for 20 years and also had worked for the New England Power Co. in Millbury. He was a Navy veteran during WW II and an Air Force veteran during the Korean War, where he was a flight engineer. He was a member of the Chester P. Tuttle Post for 48 years and was a Past Commander, also a member of the Elks in Auburn and the Auburn Sportsmen's Club.
His funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 2nd in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury. Calling hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 1st in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Central Cemetery in Millbury. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
