John Gilbert

July 2, 1936 — May 31, 2006

WORCESTER John L. Gilbert Sr., 69, of 142 Freemont St., formerly of Millbury, died Wednesday, May 31st in Autumn Village Nursing & Rehabilitation in Worcester, after a long illness.

He leaves his wife, of 42 years, Louise D. (Mallett) Gilbert; three children, Kenneth Gilbert of Worcester, Diana L. Gilbert and John L. Gilbert Jr. both of Shrewsbury; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, David and George Gilbert both of Millbury; three sisters, Patricia Gilbert of Millbury, Mary L. Rodriguez of Worcester and Frances Bathgate of Sutton. He is predeceased by his parents John and Marion (Scanlon) Gilbert, a brother, Edward F. Gilbert and two sisters, Theresa Connors and Edith Miller.

John was a textile worker all his life and worked at WW Windle Company in Millbury for 30 years, retiring in 1998. He was an Army Airborne Ranger during the Korean Conflict.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 3rd in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Millbury. Calling hours will be held from 12 to 2 p.m. Saturday June 3rd, prior to the service in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
