John Hazelwood

February 5, 1922 — May 6, 2003

MILLBURY - John R. Hazelwood, 81, of 5 Grove St., died Tuesday, May 6, in St. Vincent Hospital, at the Worcester Medical Center, Worcester.

He leaves his wife of 57 years, Loretta G. (Gregory) Hazelwood; a son, John R. Hazelwood of Grafton; a daughter, Susan E. Manzaro of Worcester; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Worcester, son of William and May E. (Beaseley) Hazelwood and has lived in Millbury all his life.

Mr. Hazelwood worked at the Felters Company for 40 years, retiring in 1983. He was an Army Air Corp. Sergeant during WW II, serving in the European Africian Middle Eastern Theater.

He was a member of St. BrigidTM)s Church and a former member of the Singletary Rod and Gun Club in Oxford and was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting.

The funeral will be held Friday, May 9, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., ( www.mulhane.com ) with a Mass at 2 p.m. in St. Brigids Church, 59 Main St. Burial will be private Calling hours are 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, May 8, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to American Diabetes Association, Massachusetts Affiliate, 1 Bromfield St., 5th Floor, Boston, Ma. 02108.
