MILLBURY, MA / HAMPTON, NJ - John B. Kennedy, 69, of Hampton, NJ, formerly of Millbury, MA passed away Dec. 28, 2012 as a result of a long and courageous battle with Lung Cancer. He was born to Dorothy and James Kennedy of Millbury, MA. His parents owned and operated KenAcre Antiques at their home on Greenwood Street for many years. This is where John acquired his life-long passion for collecting antiques.
John graduated from Millbury Memorial High School in 1961 and earned his Associates degree from Worcester Junior College. He served for three years in the US Army during which time he proudly completed a tour in Vietnam. Upon his return, John attended the University of Bridgeport, graduating in 1972. It is there that he met and married the love of his life Sandra (Deutsch) Kennedy.
He worked for Ingersoll Rand as a District Manager in upstate NY and in 1981 relocated to New Jersey where he held the position of Product Manager in Ingersoll-Rand's Professional Tools Marketing Department. The entrepreneurial spirit and an opportunity was the impetus to start Sales to Industry Inc. in 1988, a successful manufacturer's sales representative organization specializing in the direct sales of aerial lift solutions and construction equipment to the commercial rental market. John became a well-known and highly respected member of the American Rental Association.
John is survived by his wife Sandra, his mother-in-law, Susanne Zwerling, his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Debi and Ron Webb, and his cousin, Audrey Kent and her husband Larn. John was predeceased by his parents, Dorothy and James.
John's funeral service, officiated by the Reverend John Clifford Davis, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2nd at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, MA. A calling hour will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. prior to the funeral service, in the funeral home. Immediately following the service, internment will be at Worcester County Memorial Park, 217 Richards Ave, Paxton, MA. A memorial service will be held in New Jersey in the Spring. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Dr., Flemington, NJ 08822. The Kearns Funeral Home in Whitehouse, NJ, assisted the family in New Jersey.
