John Labreck

September 6, 1924 — January 4, 2003

MILLBURY - John R. LaBreck, 78, of 259 West Main Street, died Saturday, Jan. 4, in his home, after being stricken ill.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Mildred L. (Konkol) LaBreck; a son, Gary M. LaBreck and a daughter, Linda L. Woll-Derie, both of Millbury; three sisters, Gloria Boyle of Charlton, Kathleen Vigeant of Douglas and Joan Robbins of South Carolina; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. Three brothers. Louis, Kenneth and Richard LaBreck predeceased him. He was born in Worcester, son of Louis and Margaret (Fairfield) LaBreck and has lived in Millbury all his life. He graduated from Millbury High School in 1942.

Mr. LaBreck was a self-employed Master Plumber. He also worked at New England High Carbon Wire Company and Jeffco Fibers in Millbury and Webster, before he retired in 1991. He was an Army veteran during WW II, serving in Alaska as a signal man.

He was a member of St. BrigidTM)s Church, the Charles F. Minney Veteran of Foreign Wars Post, the Dudley Gendron American Legion Post in Sutton and a former member of the Knights of Columbus in Grafton.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, Jan. 8, from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., ( www.mulhane.com ) with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigids Church, 59 Main St. Burial will be in St. BrigidTM)s Cemetery. Calling hours are 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, Massachusetts Affiliate, Inc., 20 Speen Street, Framingham, Mass. 01701-4688.
