WORCESTER - John H "Jack" McGovern 81 died peacefully at home on May 14, 2018 .
He was the father of Erin (McGovern) Hougasian and Ron McGovern; grandfather of David, Joshua, Jeremy, Dakota, Rachel and Jacob; great grandfather to Sophia and Alexis and brother to Helen Largess Crewe. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and his beloved dog Tia. He was pre-deceased by his wives: Erin (Gibbons) McGovern in 1966 and Becky (DeWalt) McGovern in 2015; his father, John McGovern (in 1965) and his mother, Margaret Powers (in1940) and a brother, James McGovern (in 1946).
Jack owned Paxton Liquors and McGovern's Package Store and worked at Consolidated Beverages in Auburn. He was a very proud Marine and served in the Korean War. He was a black belt in Karate, a devoted Patriot's fan and friend to all.
Jack will be remembered as the kindest most compassionate man who always put others before himself. Family and friends will honor and remember Jack's life by gathering for a graveside service on Tuesday May 22 at 12pm Noon in the St. James' section of St John's Cemetery, 260 Cambridge St. in Worcester.
There will be a celebration of Life held on Monday May 28th at 8 Davis Circle (Lake Singletary) in Sutton, at 12 noon.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Old Colony Hospice 321 Manley St, West Bridgewater MA 02379 or New England Center for Children (Autism Awareness) 33 Turnpike Road, Southborough MA 01772.
