MILLBURY- John OTM)Gassian, 94, formerly of 152 Main St., died Thursday, Sept. 12, in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Memorial Campus, Worcester.
His wife of 64 years, died in1998. He leaves a son, Mark J. OTM)Gassian Sr. of Millbury; two sisters, Mary OTM)gasian of Holden and Lucille Hodges of Wilbraham; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Lynn, son of Jerimiah and Margaret (Safer) OTM)Gasssian and lived Worcester and Leominster before moving to Millbury 46 years ago.
Mr. OTM)Gassian waste paper handler at E. L. Harvey & Sons Inc. in Westboro for 18 years, before he retired. Previouly he work at Arduini Sheet Metal Corp., Johnson Steel & Wire Company both in Worcester and at the former Millbury Land Fill for 15 years . He was a life saving instructor with the American Red Cross in Millbury and was a chief life guard at Bell Pond in the 1040TM)s and 1950TM)s and also was a life saving instructor at WPI, both in Worcester . He was former councilor for Boy Scout Troop #110 and a former scoutmaster for many troops in Leominster.
He was a master Mason at the Wilder Lodge in Leominster where he was a member for 70 years and he was affiliated with the Siloam Lodge of Masons in Westboro. He was a former member of the Odd Fellows and the Redmen. He received several life savings citations from former United States President, Harry Truman and he was a nationally known antique button collector.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., (

). Burial will be in Central Cemetery. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the VNA Care Hospice, Inc., 120 Thomas St., Worceser, Ma. 01608.
