MILLBURY -John "Jack" Poisant, 67, died on Wednesday, March 14th after a courageous battle with cancer. He was the son of the late Arthur and Gladys Poisant and was predeceased by his son, Kevin in 2009.
He leaves his beloved son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Brenda Poisant as well as his cherished grandchildren, Kevin, Timothy, Keith Jr., Victoria, Brandon and Myranda. He also leaves his longtime companion and love of his life, Mary Brodeur to whom he was "eternally engaged" (his words), as well as Mary's children, Matthew and his wife Shannon Brodeur and Nicole and her husband Jay Cooney and Mary's grandchildren whom he loved and treasured as his own.
He was a long time Millbury resident and graduated from Millbury Memorial High School. He worked at Norton Co. many years ago and worked for the Millbury School Dept. as a custodian, retiring in 2002. He also enjoyed working part time as a cook at Scales Restaurant after retiring.
Jack's greatest joy in life was spending time with family, especially at holiday gatherings which he always made special by making sure everyone was happy and had plenty to eat.
He was an avid fisherman and was a member of The Auburn Sportsman's Club and Auburn Elks. His many friends at The Auburn Sportsman's Club were very dear to him and were like a second family. One of his passions was planning and raising funds for children's activities at the club.
Many of Jack's fondest memories were of times spent at Welsh's Grove Campground in Sutton where he loved cooking and creating "supreme" dishes for family and friends.
Jack will be sorely missed by everyone whose life was touched by his love, kindness and humor.
