DOUGLAS – John P. Ryan, 59, died Tuesday, July 7th in the Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston, after a long battle with cancer.
He leaves his wife, Diane J. (Sutkaitis) Ryan: a daughter, Heather M. Ryan and her fiancée Jared M. Young both of Douglas; his beloved granddaughter and best friend, Pandorah G. Peterson; a brother, Paul A. Ryan and his wife, Susan of Millbury; a brother-in-law, Thomas Sutkaitis and his wife Susan of Charlton. He also leaves several nephews and nieces, Gary, John, Donna, Carol, Jeffrey, Kim, Jason, Joe and Tracey. He was born in Worcester son of late Michael A. and Ida A. (Pruneau) Ryan.
John formerly worked at Sears & Roebuck in Auburn. He then was a baker at several area bakeries among which was Paul's Center Bakery in Millbury. He also formerly owned and operated his own bakery, the Village Baker in Douglas. John cherished the time with his family and traveling aboard with his wife. He had a great love of music, especially Crosby, Stills and Nash and enjoyed football, baseball, fishing and socializing with his friends.
His funeral will be held Saturday July 11th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St., Rt. 122A in Millbury, with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be private. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 10th in the funeral home.
