MILLBURY – Joseph P. Combs, 75, died Wednesday, Dec. 2nd in St. Camillus Health Care in Northbridge.
His wife of 25 years, Janet P. Capuano died in 1980. He leaves two sons, Paul J. Combs and his wife Mary of Putnum, CT and Peter P. Combs and his wife Barbara of Millbury; a brother, Roger E. Combs and his wife Brenda of Worcester; a sister, Cynthia A. Moore and her husband John of Boylston; 4 grandchildren, Amanda, Christopher, Paul, Jr. and Janet; 5 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Joseph was born in Worcester and is predeceased by his parents, Joseph A. and Eva G. (Ferris) Combs and a son Michael D. Combs, who died in 2007, two sisters, Barbara A. Combs and Pauline F. Carrignan and a brother, Douglas L. Combs.
Joe owned and operated Low Cost Transportation for 10 years. Previously he worked at Warner Swasey in Worcester. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War and was active in the Steel Workers Union #2936. He was a member and past President 2001/2002 and past treasurer of the Millbury Lions Club. Joe was a recipient Lion's Melvin Jones Fellowship Award and the Joseph J. Camarda Fellowship Award. He enjoyed salt water fishing, trips to Twin Rivers and giving Oreo cookies to his grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of St. Camillus Health Care for providing excellent care and compassion to Joe in his time of need.
His funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 5th from the Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury, with a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in St. Brigid Cemetery in Millbury. Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4th in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Activity Fund of St. Camillus Health Care, 447 Hill St., Whitinsville, MA 01588 or to the Millbury Lions Club, P.O. Box 385 Millbury, MA 01527.
