Joseph R. "Dick" Dumas, 83, died Sunday Oct. 20th, in the Health Alliance Hospital in Leominster, after being stricken ill.
His wife Constance V. (Carlstrom) Dumas died in 2008. He leaves two daughters, Patricia M. Ludwig of Attleboro and JoAnn M. and her husband, Philip "Pinky" Girouard of Millbury: a granddaughter, Stacey Vangos of Millbury; a step grandson, Philip Girouard II of Millbury: his close friend and companion, Phyllis Steinberg of Worcester; two sisters, Irene Atchue of Florida and Rachael Costello of Grafton; nephews and nieces. He was born in Grafton and is predeceased by his parents Charles and Emma Dumas, a grandson, Joseph D. Vangos and a brother, Russell "Husky" Dumas.
Joseph was an electrical salesman for Graybar Electric in Worcester before he retired in 1985. He also owned a small lamp making business and was involved in other small business endeavors. He enjoyed his summers at Cape Cod and Laconia, NH. He had the ability to make people laugh with his crazy jokes and was affectionately nicknamed "Boppy" by his granddaughter, which stuck with him for life.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, Oct. 24th from Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. in Millbury with a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 Main St. in Millbury. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in South Grafton.
Calling hours are 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday Oct. 23rd in the funeral home.
