WORCESTER – Joseph A. Laporte, 87, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 17th after a brief illness.
Joseph leaves his wife of 67 years, Barbara (LaBree) Laporte; a son, Michael Laporte and his wife, Margaret of Worcester; a daughter, Rosemary Peloquin of Worcester; 17 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Laporte and her partner, Carol Houde of Sterling; many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son, Joe Laporte, Jr.; two grandchildren, John Barnett and Rochelle Laporte; two siblings, Al Laporte and Theresa.
Joseph was a veteran of the United States Navy. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. Joseph and Barbara received awards from the State of Massachusetts for their promotion and education of fishing. He was a faithful parishioner and taught CCD at St. Catherines of Sweden in Worcester for many years.
Family and friends are invited to remember Joseph’s life by gathering for a time of visitation on Sunday, March 24th from 3 to 5 p.m. in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street, Millbury. His funeral service will be celebrated on Monday, March 25th at 11 a.m. in St. Brigid Church, 59 N. Main Street, Millbury. Burial will be private.
