Katherine Plainte

HOLDEN/WESTBOROUGH - Katherine (Markey) Plainte, 87, died peacefully on January 24, 2019 in Westborough.

She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Marie (Bettley) Markey.  Katherine was raised in Millbury, graduated from Millbury High School and then Vassar College, Poughkeepsie, NY, in 1953.  She lived in Holden for 57 years before moving to Westborough.  She served for many years as the Executive Director of Camp Fire Girls.  In her retirement, Katherine enjoyed working as a substitute teacher in Holden and traveling extensively internationally.

Katherine was predeceased by her sister, Janet Dolphin.  She is survived by her brother, Arthur Markey, Jr.; her children, Karen Plainte, Philip Plainte, Lisa Roeder, Pamela Mello; eight grandchildren; five nieces and nephews.

Per Katherine’s wishes, funeral services were private.
