Kenneth Chicky

d. March 2, 2017

Kenneth R. Chicky, 76, died suddenly after being stricken ill on Thursday, March 2nd.

His wife, the love of his life, Barbara A. (Balcius) Chicky died in 2014, leaving a space that could never be filled. Ken leaves behind his son, Ronald J. Chicky. He is predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Mary (Rutkewicz) Chicky; sister, Lorraine Lemay; and his father-in-law and fishing buddy, Frank Balcius. He leaves behind his mother-in-law, Anne Balcius; nephews, nieces, cousins, family and extended family.

Ken enlisted in the U.S. Air Force after high school and was honorably discharged in 1961. He married Barbara in 1963 and together they shared a polka that lasted 51 special years. He worked at Thompson Steel in Worcester for many years, also serving as union local president. He later worked at Wyman-Gordon in Grafton before health issues forced an early retirement.

Ken loved the outdoors, spending happy summers of his youth at his uncle's farm in Hobart, NY. He was an avid bass fisherman and woodworker, a true handyman, always willing to help. Ken loved watching the Patriots, Bruins, and binge-watching numerous movies and TV shows with his son. He will be sorely missed by his son, who loved him more than he was ever able to express.

Calling hours will be 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday March 16th at Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 N. Main Street in Millbury, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be private.

The family requests that flowers be omitted and any memorial contributions be made to Ken's son to supplement funeral expenses.
