Kenneth P. Robbins, 81, formerly of Falmouth, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2014, surrounded by his family at UMass Memorial Medical Center.
He is survived by his children Susan E. Muradian of Millbury; K. Michael Robbins and his wife, Catherine, of Holden; Douglas P. Robbins and his wife Denise of Millbury and Pamela A. Nichols and her husband Ray (RJ) of Sutton with whom he lived. He also leaves seven grandchildren David Muradian Jr. and his wife Jessica, Matthew and Clare Robbins, Danielle Robbins and her fiancé Shawn Lussier, Emily Robbins; and Ray and Hannah Nichols. He also leaves his sister Elaine Badrigian of Worcester and two sister-in-laws, Margaret Johnson of Holden and Judith DeStefano and her husband Joseph of Wellesley and Newport as well as several nieces and nephews. Ken was predeceased by his wife Carol A. (Perham), a brother Clifford and was the son of the late Clifford and Elsie (Kowalski) Robbins.
Ken was born in Worcester and graduated from North High School and Leicester Junior College. Ken joined the U.S. Army, served in the Korean War and retired as a Sergeant First Class. He was an outstanding two-sport athlete playing semi-professional baseball and basketball. He was a dedicated fan of the Yankees and Giants but loved to see the Red Sox win. He was incredibly hard-working whether trimming bushes, weeding or painting or while working at Rockwood Sprinklers, Pleasant Valley Country Club, Atlas Distributing, Inc. and Consolidated Beverages. Ken was a member of the Falmouth Lodge of the Elks and the American Legion. After a 25 year renovation of an antique farmhouse in Sutton, he enjoyed his retirement in Falmouth on Cape Cod and in Naples, Florida where he and his wife wintered for several years. Ken kept busy with puzzles, loved to fish, golf, play cards and scratch lottery tickets. An avid storyteller, he often recounted tales of life on the farm, his hole-in one and big slot machine win.
