AUBURN - Lawrence A. 'Blue-Boy' Pierce, 88, of 5 Temple St., died Sunday, Nov. 11, in the Life Care Center.
He leaves his wife of 66 years, Helen (Clark) Pierce; four sons, Ronald Pierce of Auburn, Lawrence Pierce of Rutland, Richard Pierce of Shrewsbury and David Pierce of Worcester; a brother, Clarence 'Jim' Pierce of Auburn; 23 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. He was born in Millbury, son of William and Eliza (Crepeau) Pierce and lived most of his life in Millbury. He lived in Shrewsbury before moving to Auburn. He is predeceased by five brothers, William, George, Charles, Herbert, Francis and three sisters, Mable Bailey, Irene Lavalley and Katherine Boulmetis. He graduated from Millbury High School.
Mr. Pierce was an insurance agent for John Hancock Insurance Co. for 32 years, retiring in 1973. He previously managed the A&P Store in Millbury and formerly belonged to the Massachusetts State Guard.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in the First Congregational Church in Auburn, 128 Central St. Burial will be in Howard Cemetery, Sutton. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in Mulhane Home for Funerals, 45 Main St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Massachusetts Affiliate, Inc., 20 Speen Street, Framingham, Mass. 01701-4688.
